Olive Garden's Chicken & Gnocchi Soup

Check out this fabulous recipe over at "and baby makes five" . Scroll down to the March 12th post. This is my favorite soup at olive garden and I'm so glad that I found it. Wanted to try it for quite some time. Made it last night....mmmmmm so good. Even had it for lunch today.

Also made a very easy spinach/garlic/butter italian bread to go with it.....semi-homemade & very simple:
  • buy a loaf of italian bread (or you can make it yourself-I'm not that ambitious)..cut in half....spread melted butter on both sides (about 1/4 stick or less), sprinkle garlic powder on both sides (to taste)
  • thaw spinach (about 3-4 cups), remove excess water and add garlic powder and melted butter to taste (about 1/4 stick or so)
  • spread spinach mixture onto the bread and close the loaf
  • bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes
I'm going to try country crock spread next time...I don't want to clog my arteries too much!!

ps Colleen has the cutest salt/dough bowl fillers & ornies on her blog.

Dried Snapdragon Flowers from my garden

Here is a cute little rusty heart pocket that I picked up for $3.99. I filled it with dried sweet annie. I grew snapdragon flowers in my flower garden last spring, dried them  and added them as well. These dried snapdragons have such a great texture.  I will be making a heart pocket like this one out of fabric too. Did you know that snapdragons have a wonderfully fragrant scent? Also, cut a bunch and place in a vase this summer, to make your home smell delicious. They're annual but they do come up yearly for me. I've even found them on the opposite side of my yard from where I planted them.

Mrs. Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday: Letter H

Hello everyone. I've been trying to figure out what I wanted to present for the letter H so I decided on The Holland Land Office Museum, which is located in Batavia, NY. This is where I fell in love with everything old and antique....when I was just a small girl....in the 1970's....Unfortunately their website is currently being updated so we can't sneak in and take a peek. Here is the site if you'd like to check back later: http://www.hollandlandoffice.com/home.htm
Here are some other "H" pics from the Hard drive:

Summer Picnic Ragg Quilt

I finished the quilt at around midnight last night; just in time for the cub scout pancake breakfast this morning. I love the way that It came out. Josh is sick with a stuffy nose so Daddy had to go without him. We've raised $50 so far! The raffle will be drawn in June so we have more time to do fundraising. I have at least three more ragg quilts that I want to make: beach theme, a chenille pumpkin quilt and a pirate quilt (guess who that's for?)

Now this is a sexy man

Yes, I will reiterate...this is a sexy man (don't tell my husband) and he is also great in Shutter Island. Hubby and I saw it in Buffalo this past weekend and the theater was packed to the brim!
It's a great movie, very suspenseful, and you must pay close attention.
There is no blood and gore (thank goodness).
Martin Scorsese is BRILLIANT!! A must see movie.
If you are human, you might just cry. (I'm just sayin')
