Finally Flowers and getting the Garden ready

I'm so excited to finally see my flowers blooming....soon the lilacs will be next.....I have put some cut flowers in a mason jar in the living room and boy do they smell great...especially the hyacinths and daffodils...Here are some pics of my flowers
Just planted five (30 foot) rows of early sweet corn...will be ready in 63 days so right around the Fourth of July. I can't wait for that yummy corn...Also planted one 30 foot row of peas....I was too exhausted to plant anymore today but will probably plant 3 more rows of peas. I like to get my 3-4 inch veggie plants, which include cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, eggplant, zucchini and hot peppers (of all types especially jalepeno's, hungarian wax and cayenne's). I did grow my own Basil last year but the japanese beetles were all over them. Hope they are less this year. My strawberries are in the middle of the garden; had 5 but there are only 3 that I see. (Hubby must have tilled them again) :(
Also have some nice rhubarb growing on the right. I am happy again!!

Annie Make-Do

Here's an Annie make-do that I am working on right now. She is still naked and does not have any hair. I can't find my matte spray sealer so she will have to wait for the clothes and hair until after she is sprayed. I love the way her face/eyes came out. I outlined the eyes free hand with my prismacolor pencils then painted the eye bases white. I left a crescent white area while making the center of the eye with black acrylic paint. I used the pencils to make the blue color and used a cream colored pencil to make the  squiggly "lines" in the iris...that's what gives eyes that marbled look....you should see my son's "marble" blue eyes...amazing!! Okay, back on track...I then painted white highlight dots in the eyes.  I painted the eyelashes and eyebrows with a thin lined black. I went over the outline of the entire eye with black again after finishing-this gives the eyes definition and a softer look. The nose was penciled in first then painted over with heritage brick red. I don't care to use real makeup for the cheeks and highlighted areas of the face so I use the broad side of the prisma pencil. If you do this, use a light gentle stroke so you don't have "lined" markings....this wouldn't be good as you cannot erase. I did not tea dye her but will probably do it for the next Annies.

She is adapted from a free download by Sandy @ The Olde Country Cupboard. She is a cross between a couple of my favorite designers: Sandy as mentioned above and Maureen from Sweet Meadows Farms. I just love them both. I have added a twist to the pattern by putting "shoes" on the candlestick. They are not done yet; have to hightlight them in white so that they stand out.

Incidentally, if you have an Ollies store near you (an odd lot type store that you have to rummage through) it's worth the trip sometimes.... I found these wooden candle sticks in small (approx 8 inch) and large size (approx 12 inch) for 49 and 79 cents each....a bargain considering that they are around 2.99 and 3.99 in the craft stores!!

I will put a "dress" on her; one for each season will be included when I list her. I will be making several sisters to keep her company. I am hoping to get a booth at a wonderful local artisan shoppe. Wish me luck; I'm first on the wait list (thankfully the owner likes my handmades)!! :) patti

Front door wreath n greeter

I love this new little crow that I purchased from Danette, who has a booth at a quaint primitive/antique shop in Medina, NY. I put it with one of my handmade wreaths which hangs on my front door. I'm all ready for the patriotic holidays and everyday in general.....I am so proud of our troops and thank GOD everyday that we live in the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" !!
