It's a Fairy Tale.....

A fairy tale pumpkin that is.....I bought this sweet pumpkin at the farmers market this weekend...It's huge...I did not weigh it but it's probably 7 or 8 lbs...I guess I never really paid attention to the various types of pumpkins until I started making "fabric" pumpkins....I am in LOVE with this one...It's termed Cinderella's pumpkin...how cute is that?? I was told that it is edible and can be used around Thanksgiving time...I will attempt a pumpkin pie...never scooped out the inside of a pumpkin so I'll have to do a search on it....

Here it is in a small Fall display with my new witch by Brenda (The Rusty Thimble) and my scarecrow~n~bowl fillers from Primcrafts along with a star pocket from A hole in the basket, which I filled with sweet annie, moss and one of my own mulled cider scented GHOSTIE tarts. My candycorn bat hangs on the rocker....and the dried zinnias are from my garden and make excellent fillers to prim crafting.

My Mom and I went to the AppleUmpkin Festival here in Wyoming, NY today....and I bought this unique bench...from a couple who refurbish old windows and doors down in Mercerville, PA...This bench was made from an old door cut up into pieces for the back and sides...was painted black with a cream color over the top. The handrails, top and bench were wood stained...paid $60 and it's so worth it...I looove this piece!!...yes, I do have a "non handmade" in this pic...a scarecrow but I love him anyway...when I get some time, I will make my own....I picked all of my smaller sunflower heads with seeds since the birds have moved on....I may sell these in packets at some point once I harvest them...when planted they look so nice in clusters in my front gardens and surrounding my front porch...I also dried some longer sunflowers in a bunch....I have a bittersweet garland on the back of the bench and some with leaves, in a vase. The pumpkin is from our patch.

Wool Finds....

Well lookey, lookey @ what I found @ Goodwill this week.....

I've been wanting to make a penny rug and some wool pinkeeps....They were 1/2 price.....a total of $6.00......WooHoo!!
I fell in love with the "autumn" plaid skirt....was envisioning adorable pinkeeps and such but now that I think about it...it's my size so I'm not sure if I will wear it or craft with it...has gorgeous orange, olive green, black and cream colors in it, with that fuzzy soft feel too (it's lined, of course!)....The pants are NOT my size and have a wonderful black and gold speckled tone...will have to decide what to use it for. Was looking at Men's plaid blazers but it was close to "closin' time" and I had to rush....will go back soon.

My Prim Punkins....

Here are some prim punkins that I made for my booths....made out of "tangerine" fleece (on sale @ joann's for $2.99 yd).....I made 12 all together with 2 yards.... added really thick grapevine for stems...mostly tilted to give them a dimensional look....I grunged them up with a coffee/vanilla mixture....rubbed cinnamon on them randomly while still wet then baked them in the oven...I also used coffee dyed jute for the "wedges".....draped and hot glued spanish moss on the tops randomly...added hand dyed "avocado" colorwash (scented with coffee & vanilla) cheesecloth...pulled & ripped randomly to give that vintage look....I also added dyed ~n~stamped punkin tags after the pic was taken...Can be displayed through Thanksgiving...They are approximately 9 1/2 inches tall by 10 inches wide....
I also made one of these into a tealight punkin with rusty stars and pip berries...will post the pic later....still on my camera...

Here's my Josh showing you all the "wild" sweet annie behind our house!! If anyone is interested in purchasing, email me @     pkendall1@frontiernet.net

A TIP For SUNFLOWERS......

If you LOVE sunflowers like I do and you have planted them or are thinking of planting some next spring....you can use them in your prim crafting creations....They must be dried first though...
Here's what I learned recently.....dry the sunflower heads UPSIDE DOWN....that way the petals won't flop towards the back. Depending on what you'll use them for, you can cut them down at the lower stem or just
at the flower head......

Here they are drying UPSIDE DOWN:

and here they are RIGHT SIDE UP....you can see that some are still drying so I fllipped them back over to finish drying but wanted to show you before all of your flowers....go to the birds....my yellow finches have been feasting on my sunflowers like crazy....You can also seal them, once dried, with spray sealer....
have fun creating with SUNFLOWERS !!
