Prairie Bonnet

Here's my first ever made coffee/vanilla dyed prairie bonnet. I used a Kim's Whims pattern...I reinforced the brim section with heavy interfacing, made a minor adjustment and tacked down the outer ties instead of "seam ripping" and adding them...Couldn't bring myself to do that....I also added a second pair of ties on the inside (If I ever decide to wear it...now wouldn't that be a sight!?) Think I'm going to try a ruffled one next time....click on the pic to enlarge.

  16. I found a copy of the PBS series 'Frontier House' at a garage sale. At one point a husband is bashing 'fashion design' of the era saying that when women wear those bonnets they can get trampled and killed because they can only see straight ahead.

Have you seen that series? I'll send it to you if you have a VHS recorder.

Either way, neat bonnet. I bet it smells yummy, too.
