Meet Steve.....

lookey, lookey at our newest baby boy...his name is Steve (Josh named him...and he is so happy to have his "own" pet).....I am absolutely in LOVE with this lil' critter. He is a precious long haired Golden hampster. Just look at this picture. Josh put him in a Fisher Price cart...Isn't he too funny? He's such a sweet boy...not wild. lays in my arm when he's tired....loves his wheel and ate 1/2 a baby carrot last night. We did get him some gourmet food at the pet store. He yawns just like a baby...doesn't nibble or bite us....Ahhhh we love our new guy (my dogs either want to eat him or are very jealous when I talk to him)!!

Valentine Prizes....

Here's what I won from Deb over @ Crows on the Cupola. Aren't they just so cute? I just love the hot pink heart ornie bag with the vintage graphic on the front. It even has sparkly german glitter glass too. Very bling...very me! I know what you're thinking...How can you love prim and bling at the same time? Well its easy...for me anyway...Deb also sent a surprise "Be my Valentine" wooden blocks that she made....I loooove them!! She also sent two Valentine tapers and tarts scented with creme brulee...!! Look at the handstitched hangtag with the red heart...so cute too! Thank you Deb for everything. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I'm going to be a published artist........

I've always wanted to be a featured artist in a craft magazine for quite some time but never seemed to have the time (with kids, college and work) to submit anything. Awhile back I submitted a few projects to Create & Decorate and they were accepted. So....I will be published in the June issue for my first project. I can't say what the project is so you'll have to be surprised!

My second project is not fully submitted but were shooting for it to be in the August issue....still working on the instructions. I haven't heard when the third project will be featured so stay tuned. I'm hoping that they like my 4th project too.

(ps this is not my June issue but an older issue) :)

Some new goodies.......

I've been meaning to post this awesome hand painted bowl made by Cathy of Tolentreasures so here it is: Just look at her decorative artwork here....just love the highlighting and shading of the vines, berries and stars!!.....I just love everything that she makes!! Head on over to her blog as she has painting tutorials too.

Now looky, looky what came in the mail today......something that I ordered a few days ago from Suzanne over @ Poplar Street Primitives or visit her etsy shop (her blog isn't working for me for some reason right now)  Poplar Street Prims Etsy....once I saw her sweet pea self...and her sweet peas babes...I just had to have her....I've purchased dollies from Suzanne before...and LOVE her work....This sweet pea doll has been colorwashed in prim green from head to toe and sanded. She has the fanciest prim two piece dress with puffy~n~cuffed sleeves and a bodice that has been stitched up the front (so victorian looking)!!....and she even has pantaloons...Her face and feet are needle sculpted and her eyes are painted with muslin "eyelids". I have 3 kiddies (a daughter who turned 19 today-Happy Birthday Baby (not that she'll read my blog. haha), a son who's 10 and a stepdaughter who's 18) so I thought she was perfect. Isn't she cute? I'm not sure if this is her design though?? Suzanne is an excellent crafter and pays attention to detail. Thank you Suzanne!!

Can you see the lil' sweet peas in their peapod?

Here's Rachel and I at the chinese restaurant today......we even went to Michaels and I bought some spring colored floss....Rachel didn't get anything...not sure what she'll buy with her birthday money. She'll probably save it for her Amsterdam trip this June...she's going with her college art class....how fun!!  Did I mention that she is a fabulous artist?

This is what she painted in high school this past year. An acrylic portrait of Joshua...my baby and her brother. She referred to a picture that I had taken. The art teacher submitted it to a show at the library and hung it out in the hallway at school. I'm going to try and get it into the new art gallery at the college where I work.

Where does the time go? I just remember when she was starting to walk...!!
Happy Birthday to my little (big) princess....It's been a great week. Happy weekend everyone! patti

My new prim swap goodies.....

Here are my new prim goodies from a swap which Tammy of A Primitive Place hosted. They are from Donna of Willowcreek Primitives. First on deck is this cute prim Heart Annie doll. She is too cute!! I love her red ticking heart that she is holding! She will be perfect for the upcoming Valentine's Day. (My 11th yr wedding anniversary)!! I just love this GIANT Easter egg....I never thought to make one that big...too cute...I may have to make some more to go with it!!.... I also received a sweet prim sunflower on a prim yard stick...I just love the texture of it!...one of my favorite summertime flowers!! I love this prim pear pinkeep~my first pinkeep that I've received...so cute with all the trinkets on it! I also love the painted prim papermache eggs...yup didn't have any of these either! I will put those in a basket maybe with the large brown one! Thank you Donna for all these goodies and to Tammy for a fun swap!!

Here's part of our yard and what I look at every day out my front door and windows....lately anyway....can you see all the snow ripples from old man winter?...ps this is where all the deer hang out...all around our house...they've even eaten our arborvitae's this year...never have done that since the bushes were planted over 5 yrs ago...It's been a cold winter and they are hungry! Poor honeys but brats for eating them!! Hurry up spring...where are all my flowers?? Out front I have butterfly bushes, lilacs, burning bushes. blackeyed susans, heirloom tulips and more tulips...peppermint, a dogwood, 4 crabapple trees and a wisteria tree that I don't think will bloom with those beautiful graplike flowers! Does anyone know how to get it to bloom? We planted it in 2008 so this will be the 4th year. They say that it takes at least 5 yrs for it to bloom? Is this true??

Now here are my two best furry girls!! Molly (white) and Zoey (brown): The are such Mamma's girls....
and boy do they loooove to go outside in the winter...Zoey moreso than Molly because....well frankly she is a teddy bear!! I purposely have not groomed them all winter so they stay warm...Especially that lil' Molly who has the softest baby fine fur...

The sun was shining today. Look at how Zoey is all snow covered. I think she is secretly a sled dog-baby bear! She loves to eat the snow and Molly does her business and runs right back in.

Now I can show them off....

Now that my swap partner-Donna from Willowcreek Primitives received her package today, I can show you what I worked on two weekends ago for her. I wanted to make her "doll" part of the swap (hosted by Tammy of A Primitive Place) extra special so I used a moonchild's butterfly doll pattern. I tried very hard to make her face just like Donna Veal's doll but for the life of me, I just couldn't....I had sculpted the eyebrows nicely but she looked "mean"....really...I was nervous at first then thought...what am I gonna do? I'd be afraid to get a doll like this...It's so scarey...you had to see her...I think I flossed the black pupils too large and too close to those eyebrows.....my 10 yr old son had a look of horror on his face....so I took my original flossed facial features out....I thought about it for awhile....then I decided that I'd paint coffee mixture around the eyes to give the "bug" effect...I also gave her a small smiling mouth instead of the girlie lips like on the pattern........I also gave her small black circular floss eyes with cream colored floss outlining them and a crudely stitched prim nose....and miraculously....she wasn't scarey anymore...In fact, she was BEAUTIFUL.....I was pleasantly pleased with how she turned out.  So here she is: What do you all think? I had a hard time giving her up....no I really wanted Donna to have her and hoped that she would fall in love with her as I had....You can visit Tammy's blog to see what Donna posts later on this week. I did make her more stuff but she can show it all to you....

I also put sweet annie in her hands like the pattern called for and made a coffee dipped tag that says
"Garden Butterfly 1804" Aren't her antennae too cute? I'm hoping Donna leaves her out all year long!!
I am so proud of her....being my first "Butterfly" Dolly. She is even cuter in person!

Another view (I have her in my header if you didn't notice)!! hehe....I actually made her 25% larger than what the pattern called for...shhh don't tell Donna  (Hope she doesn't mind)......

I also wanted to design a spring prim....a bunny bowl filler so this is what I came up with last sunday...I think he turned out cute too....a very prim "Bunny Love" sweetie (also in my header cuz I don't have a darn thing made for spring otherwise)!!.....

Hope you enjoyed looking at my newest creations. enjoy them Donna!! :)  Oh yeah...Donna told me that my package was a nice Birthday surprise....Her Birthday is tomorrow so head on over and wish her many more!! Willowcreek Primitives ps I should be getting my package tomorrow....and I can't wait...had a mixup with the postal service.
